Today we watched the other group present their devising theater summative performance, and we also worked on our own which is ending up taking a lot more time than predicted. The other group did very well with their performance, as it was easy to follow and entertaining, although I would have changed a few things such as the sudden ending and the lack of costumes. After watching their performance, we worked on our group’s performance. The reason we have needed an extension of time is because we are converting our initial performance into a shadow performance that will be conducted behind a screen using light to create shadows, and the screen was given to us this class so we did not have the chance to previously work on it. After looking at the screen, our group realized that we have to change the whole choreography of our performance because the screen’s width is quite small and also if we don’t stand close enough to the screen the images of our bodies and the props appear too blurred. Therefore, the biggest challenge we are faced with now is to quickly redesign our performance so that we are able to present our whole performance through shadows and also so that the audience is can easily follow the story line. Aside from this, I am happy to say that our group has started to collaborate quite well because we all trust each other and listen to each others’ opinions.
