Today, Mrs. Morris presented our class with the question: Does a theatrical performance define a space, or does a space define the theatrical performance? In order help ourselves solve this question, Mrs. Morris divided us into groups of 2-3 and we each had confined space in the middle of 5-6 chairs in which we had to act out a scenario she provided us with. The challenge with this was that the space she gave us was really small and it was hard to move around. To overcome this, my partner and I gave our performance and created an illusion of space using our actions and words. With this, our small available space of a few square feet came across (using our performance) as a whole bedroom and changing room. In this way, it can be proven that rather than a space defining a theatrical performance, the performance is what defines the space.
